Metal Blindness
In day-to-day life, we are surrounded by metalwork; you can see it everywhere, from churches and other old buildings to the railing we hold. Because of this, we have become used to overlooking the metalwork around us.
This project is based on the idea that we overlook life’s little details and pass by the extraordinary for the mundane right under our noses. by forging these traditional bits of metal work into the size of jewllery, taking the things we don’t notice and making them imposable to miss.
Bringing together each of the elements from a full-sized bit of metalwork into this detailed smaller work takes time and precision. Each element has to be custom forged to fit, from the tiny rivets to the firewelding of 3mm stock. This project has tested my skills in the best ways.
This project is a work in progress, so if you’d like to keep up with the project, then follow along on Instagram.
